COVID-19 is still with us, although most provinces in Canada have lifted all Public Health protocols. Ontario lifted them on June 11, 2022, but the medical profession is encouraging everyone to keep wearing their masks in public indoor spaces. Ontario is in the 7th wave of this pandemic.
Omicron first came to light when identified by scientists in South Africa in November 2021 as a new COVID-19 variant. We now have a variant of Omicron B.A.5. In Ontario, case numbers are steadily increasing since restrictions were lifted. On August 4, 2022 1,474 COVID patients were hospitalized, 139 patients were in ICU with COVID and 11 patients died.
The Federal Government approved a Moderna COVID vaccine for children age 6 months to 5 years on July 14, 2022. In Ontario, age 18 and over are eligible to get the 2nd booster shot (4th COVID vaccination) effective July 14, 2022.
Total COVID-19 cases in Canada reached 4,114.086 with 43,122 deaths on August 4, 2022.
The best defense is to get all the vaccinations you are eligible for. People who have been vaccinated and got COVID-19 had mild symptoms, did not require hospitalization, isolated at home and recovered. It is advisable to get vaccinated.

Unfortunately, there will be no Family Picnic in 2022. Hopefully in 2023.

Spring Golf was held on June 5. A wonderful, large crowd of 48 people attended. Everyone was happy to see one another, after two years of COVID-19 lockdown. It was a fun, social game. Thank you Harvey Tham for your generous donation of over 100 sleeves of golf balls. Thanks to Denise for organizing this sporting event.

Just in time for the Labour weekend, Golf has been organized for Sept 4 - 5, 2022 at Hawk Ridge Golf Club. The cost will be $176.28 for 2 rounds, taxes in. Accommodation will be at the Day's Inn, across from Casino Rama. The rate is $124.25 for 1 night including taxes. Golf spots and accommodation are limited so contact Denise War to reserve your spot!
