August 2019
Greetings from the CCASA! We hope that everyone is enjoying the summer after another cold, long winter. We have had a few events since our last communication in February. It has been good to catch up with many old friends and meet new faces since then.
Upcoming Events

Labour Day Long Weekend Golf

Regrettably, the Golf Event for September 1-2, 2019 at Hawk Ridge is cancelled due to unfavourable course conditions. Denise plans to have golf in the Spring and Fall of 2020 and will be in contact with all golfers. Stay tuned for updates on this event.
Event Updates

Spring Golf

There were 33 golfers who come out to play at the Country Club in Woodbridge on a beautiful course and in glorious weather. Since our Spring was so wet, this was a welcome change.

The golf starter was a delight, and all the restaurant staff was friendly and helpful. Almost everyone stayed for a drink and a light snack. It was a delight to re-kindle old acquaintances after a long winter.
Thanks to Denise and Frank for organizing this once again.

Family Picnic

There were 90 people in attendance at the family picnic on this beautiful Summers day. We had 13 children from age 1 to 13 participating in the games. It was wonderful to see everyone. This year, 12 visitors joined and 20 from the Greater Toronto Area were first time participants. Attending, also, was Carol Wong, past president of Tsung Tsin Association of Ontario and founding member of Toronto Hakka Heritage Alliance. She came to show us the Hakka traditional hat.
For the first time this year, a Mahjong Contest was held. We had 3 tables of games. In the finals, the player with the most points was Sengleng Maw. All finalists received a prize. Congratulations Sengleng our very first Mahjong Contest winner!

Every year there are games for children and adults. However, no adult games took place because the adults were too busy renewing friendships and watching the mahjong players! Prizes were awarded to the game-winners in their age category.
